A
total of 36,989 pilgrims have so far arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the
holy Hajj this year, which will take place in the third week of June.
The
pilgrims made their journey to the holy land in 93 flights operated by airlines
of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, according to the latest bulletin issued by the
Hajj desk. Among those who arrived in Saudi Arabia, some 3,747 reached there under
government management while the remaining 33,242 went there under the
arrangement of the private Hajj agencies.
Of
the flights, 43 were operated by national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh
Airlines, 30 by Saudia, the national airlines of Saudi Arabia, and 20 flights
by to Flynas, a Saudi private airline.
Till
now, three Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia. Lutfar Rahman, 65,
died in Makkah on Tuesday (21 May). Md Mustafa, 89, and Md Asaduzzaman died
earlier in Madina.
So
far, a total of 84,318 visas have been issued to Bangladeshi pilgrims this
year.
Hajj
flights started on May 9. The last Hajj flight is on June 10. The return flight
of pilgrims will begin on June 20 and end on July 22.
