BPDB lacks immediate alternatives for fuel shortages or supply disruptions

The Indian company Adani Group owes a substantial amount to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for electricity sales. Adani has already warned Bangladesh's interim government about the payment of this bill. In addition to Adani, another 1160 megawatts of electricity is being brought from India under a bilateral power trade agreement with the Bangladeshi government. There are outstanding payments in this regard as well. Due to the large amount of outstanding dues, there is a risk of disruption or even a halt in the import and supply of electricity from India.
