levels in the major rivers across the northeastern, eastern, and southeastern
regions of the country continue to rise. Prolonged heavy rainfall has further
worsened the flood situation in the low-lying areas of Moulvibazar, Habiganj,
Feni, Cumilla, and Chattogram.
In
the last 24 hours, heavy rains in areas bordering Tripura have caused severe
hardship for residents in these regions.
According
to weather agencies, heavy rainfall in the northeastern part of the country and
its adjacent upstream areas may decrease over the next 24 hours. This could
lead to a slight improvement in the flood situation in Moulvibazar and
Habiganj.
Meanwhile,
rainfall in the south-eastern and eastern regions is also expected to decrease.
As a result, the flood situation in the river-adjacent areas of Feni, Cumilla,
and Chattogram districts may stabilize.
Water
levels in the Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges rivers are receding. However, the
water level in the Padma River remains unchanged.
Currently,
14 rivers across the country are flowing above the danger level. Notably, water
levels in the Kushiyara, Manu, and Khowai rivers are rising. Water levels may continue
to rise in these rivers for the next 24 hours.
The
districts affected by the floods include Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Cumilla, Feni,
and Chattogram.
Significant
rainfall has been recorded both within the country and upstream in the last 24
hours. Among them, Narayanhat (Chattogram) received 201 mm of rain, while Sunamura
(Tripura) recorded 269 mm.
Residents
in the affected areas have been advised to remain vigilant until the flood
situation improves.
