The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will hire 1,300 drivers and motorcyclists from Bangladesh this year.

Of them, 1,000 will be motorcyclists while the remaining 300 are to be taxi drivers.

From next year, the UAE will take 2,000 taxi drivers and motorcyclists from Bangladesh every year.

State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Choudhury revealed this after a meeting with Nasser Mohammad Mudaifas, Director of the Dubai Taxi Corporation, at the ministry in Dhaka on Thursday.

UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Alhmoudi said that almost 1,300 drivers and motorcyclists will be hired in 2024 with plans to increase this number to 2,000 per year.

“The workers will be paid in according to the UAE’s labor laws,” he said in response to a question.

The recruitment will continue as per the market demand, he added.
