The
United Arab Emirates (UAE) will hire 1,300 drivers and motorcyclists from
Bangladesh this year.
Of
them, 1,000 will be motorcyclists while the remaining 300 are to be taxi drivers.
From
next year, the UAE will take 2,000 taxi drivers and motorcyclists from Bangladesh
every year.
State
Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Choudhury
revealed this after a meeting with Nasser Mohammad Mudaifas, Director of the
Dubai Taxi Corporation, at the ministry in Dhaka on Thursday.
UAE
Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Alhmoudi said that almost 1,300 drivers
and motorcyclists will be hired in 2024 with plans to increase this number to
2,000 per year.
“The
workers will be paid in according to the UAE’s labor laws,” he said in response
to a question.
The
recruitment will continue as per the market demand, he added.
