Due
to recent concerns over law and order, the district administration has
discouraged tourists from visiting popular tourist destination Sajek from Tuesday
(September 24) until Thursday (September 26). This decision was announced by
District Commissioner Mohammad Mosaraf Hossain Khan during a meeting of the district
law and order committee.
The
District Commissioner stated that 1,400 tourists were stranded in Sajek due to
unforeseen events in Khagrachari and Rangamati. “We faced significant challenges
in ensuring their safe return. Considering the current situation, we are
discouraging tourists from visiting Sajek over the next three days,” he added.
The
law and order committee meeting, held at the Rangamati District Commissioner’s
office and chaired by the District Commissioner, was attended by Police
Superintendent Dr. FM Forhad Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Nguyen Khisa,
Additional District Commissioner (General) Md. Motasem Billah, and Executive
Engineer of the Rangamati Road Division Sabuj Chakma, along with other
officials and leaders of various political parties.
During
the meeting, Police Superintendent Dr. FM Forhad Hossain stated, “Whoever is
responsible for creating unrest will face action. We have received several
pieces of information, videos, and photos, and we are investigating them. If
you have any additional information, photos, or videos, please share them with
us. No one will be exempt.”
