Affairs Adviser Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain has stated that there are no plans to
change the national anthem. “The interim government will not engage in actions
that spark controversy,” he said.
He
made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Saturday morning (September
7) after visiting the Islamic Foundation in Rajshahi and attending a meeting
with local dignitaries.
Addressing
the media, he added, “As a neighboring country, we seek a friendly relationship
with India. We have heard reports of attacks on our national cricket team in
India. Since the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is involved, they will
determine the appropriate course of action.”
Adviser
Khalid also condemned attacks on religious sites, stating, “Attacks on mosques,
temples, or shrines are heinous acts. Those who carry out such attacks are
enemies of humanity and criminals. They will be prosecuted under the law.”
He
further assured that security for the upcoming Durga Puja would be bolstered by
including local madrasa students and the general public to guard the temples
and prevent any attacks or sabotage. “Madrasa students have never been
associated with militancy. Such claims are part of previous governments’
conspiracies and misinformation campaigns,” he added.
He
also addressed recent attacks, stating, “After the regime change, attacks have
occurred not only on the homes of Hindu families but also on Muslim homes.
There is no reason to view this situation differently.”
