Metro rail to operate on Fridays, Kazipara station reopens tomorrow

Kazipara Station of the metro rail will reopen tomorrow, Friday (September 20). The station had been closed for repairs after it was damaged during the anti-discrimination student movement. The total cost of the repairs reached BDT 2.05 million.

Speaking at a press conference today, Thursday (September 19), Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), shared this information.

It was also announced at the press conference that metro trains will now operate regularly on Fridays as well starting tomorrow.

MD Abdur Rouf said, “There has been a longstanding public demand for metro rail services to operate on Fridays. Hence, from tomorrow afternoon, metro trains will run, but on a different schedule.”

He added that on Fridays, trains will start running from Uttara North Station at 3:30 pm, with the last train departing at 9 pm. From Motijheel, services will begin at 3:40 pm, and the final train will depart at 9:40 pm.

The schedule for other days will remain the same, with the first train leaving Uttara North at 7:10 am and the last one at 9 pm, with trains departing every 8 to 10 minutes. From Motijheel, services will start at 7:30 am, and the last train will depart at 9:40 pm.

He also mentioned that efforts are underway to open Mirpur 10 Station as soon as possible.
