Dr. Kamrul Ahsan of the Department of Philosophy has been appointed as Vice
Chancellor for Jahangirnagar University (JU). A notification regarding the
appointment was issued today (Thursday, September 5) by the Ministry of
Education.
According
to the notification from the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the
Ministry of Education, the appointment of Professor Dr. Kamrul Ahsan as Vice
Chancellor has been approved by the President and Chancellor of the university,
in accordance with the Jahangirnagar University Ordinance. The appointment is
made under five conditions, which include that the appointment will take effect
from the date of his joining. He will receive the same salary and allowances as
his current position, and will be entitled to other relevant benefits as per
regulations.
As
the university’s chief executive officer, he will reside on the campus at all
times. The President and Chancellor reserve the right to terminate the
appointment at any time if necessary.
Earlier,
on August 7, Jahangirnagar University’s former Vice Chancellor Professor Nurul
Alam resigned, citing personal and family reasons in his resignation letter.
