Beximco’s stock manipulation leads to BDT 4.28 bln fine

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has imposed a fine of BDT 4.28 billion for violating securities laws through stock manipulation involving Beximco, a listed company on the stock market. The decision was made during the 924th commission meeting held at the BSEC meeting room on Tuesday (October 1). BSEC Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood presided over the meeting.

After the meeting, this information was disclosed in a press release signed by BSEC Director and Spokesperson Farhana Faruqui.

The press release stated that nine individuals and entities were fined a total of BDT 4.28 billion for stock manipulation and violating securities laws. Among them, Marjana Rahman was fined BDT 300 million, TradeNext International BDT 40.1 million, Mushfiqur Rahman BDT 1.25 billion, Momtazur Rahman BDT 580 million, Jupiter Business BDT 225 million, Apollo Trading BDT 150.1 million, ART International BDT 700 million, Abdur Rouf BDT 310 million, and Crescent Limited BDT 730 million.
