Indian
High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma yesterday (Sunday, September
22) called on BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at BNP
Chairperson's political office in the city's Gulshan area.
During
the meeting that continued nearly an hour, they discussed issues relating to
strengthening bilateral relations and others unresolved issues between the two
neighboring countries.
Emerging
from the meeting, the BNP Secretary General told journalists that he
highlighted different bilateral issues, which were not resolved yet and how
existing ties between the two neighbours can be strengthened further for the
betterment of two people.
“We
elaborately discussed the water issues, border killing and overall security
matters,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
“India
will see the matters how it can resolve the issues remained pending between the
two countries as it is aware of these matters”, he quoted the envoy as saying.
The
meeting was informed that political parties in India want to strengthen
relations with BNP as a political party, he added.
Deputy
High Commissioner of Indian High Commission Pravin Badhe accompanied Pranay
Verma during the meeting.
However,
the BNP Secretary General was accompanied by the party's Standing Committee
Member Salahuddin Ahmed, Vice-Chairman Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Organising
Secretary Shama Obaid.
