India
was stopped just short of 400 runs, bowing out at 376, thanks to Hasan’s
brilliant five-wicket haul. India started the second day at 339/6, but could
only add 37 more runs before losing their last four wickets. Taskin Ahmed
claimed three of those wickets, while Hasan Mahmud picked up the other, completing
his five-wicket feat.
India

top-scored with 113, and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 86. Hasan was the pick of
the bowlers for Bangladesh, finishing with 5 wickets for 83 runs, while Taskin
took 3 wickets for 55 runs.
India
lost Jadeja early on the second day, adding just 4 runs to their previous
score. In the 83rd over, Taskin delivered a short-length ball that Jadeja edged
to Liton Das behind the stumps, breaking the 199-run seventh-wicket partnership.
Jadeja departed after scoring 86.
Taskin’s
second strike came in the 89th over when Akash tried a big hit but skied it to
Shanto, departing for 17. Taskin also removed Ashwin in the 91st over, when the
batter attempted an offside slog but was caught at mid-off for 113.
Hasan
wrapped up the innings in the 92nd over by dismissing Bumrah, who edged a
delivery to the third slip. With this wicket, Hasan completed his five-wicket
haul for the second consecutive innings. He had taken 5 wickets for 43 runs in
Pakistan’s second innings in the second Test at Rawalpindi. Now, he claimed 5
wickets for 83 runs in India’s first innings in Chennai, becoming the first
Bangladeshi pacer to take a five-wicket haul on Indian soil.
