All six members of the same family, who were badly burnt in cylinder
explosion in the capital’s Bhashantek area on April 12, have now died.
Liza Akter, 17, succumbed to her injuries at Sheikh Hasina
National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at around 6pm on Saturday. With
her, all the six injured passed away one after another.
Tariqul Islam, a resident physician of the hospital, six
members of the family got admitted in the institute after being burnt in a
cylinder blast. Five of them died earlier. Liza passed away last evening at the
high dependency unit.
On April 24, Liza’s brother, nine-year-old Sujon, died while
under treatment. Her father Liton Miah, 52, died on April 16. Before that, Liza’s
mother Surjo Banu passed away. Her grandmother succumbed to her injuries on
April 13. Liza’s sister, Lamia, also died in that explosion.
