Riverine
transport and ferry services to six destinations from Dhaka have been suspended.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) announced this decision
considering the safety of passengers due to adverse weather conditions in the
coastal region. BIWTA’s Public Relations Officer Ehteshamul Parvez confirmed
this to Bonik Barta.
The
Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a local warning signal number
three for the seaports due to inclement weather.
Ehteshamul
Parvez stated that due to severe rolling in the rivers of the coastal area, vessel
services from Dhaka to Hatia, Dhaka to Bethua, Dhaka to Khepupara, Dhaka to
Charmontaz, Dhaka to Rangabali, and Dhaka to Monpura will remain suspended
until further notice.
