Recent
incidents of brutal killings through mob beatings have occurred in some areas.
The Police Headquarters has stated that such ‘mob justice’ is completely
unacceptable. On Friday (September 20), AIG (Media and PR) Enamul Haque Sagor
shared this information.
He
said that if someone commits a crime, there are legal provisions in place for
their trial according to the country’s laws. No one has the right to take the
law into their own hands. If a person commits an offense, they must be handed
over to the authorities, and under no circumstances should anyone resort to
vigilante action.
Enamul
Haque Sagor further added that if someone witnesses a crime or wrongdoing, they
should contact the national emergency service 999 or the nearest police
station. The Police Headquarters is making a special appeal to everyone not to
take the law into their own hands. He emphasized that to prevent the recurrence
of incidents like mob justice or beatings, the Police Headquarters seeks the
cooperation of all conscious citizens. Bangladesh Police remains committed to
maintaining law and order in the country and ensuring the safety and security
of the public.
