Two dead in Uttara amidst clashes

In Uttara, two fatalities have occurred amidst ongoing quota reform protests. Dr. Sabbir Ahmed, head of Uttara Modern Medical College, informed the media, "One deceased student in the clashes was brought to our hospital around 12 noon."

Meanwhile, orthopedic specialist Mahmudul Hasan of Uttara Crescent Hospital reported treating more than 400 injured protesters. One person among the injured has died. The identity of the deceased remains unknown.

Earlier today (July 18), clashes between police, RAB, and protesters began at 11 AM in Uttara, leading to a shutdown of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway section in Uttara. Protesters have occupied the streets from House Building to Rajlakshmi Intersection. Police deployed tear gas and sound grenades against them.
