The results of yesterday's election are still being tallied, but according to one exit poll, center-left Labour will win roughly 410 of the 650 seats in parliament, giving it a lead of over 326 seats. After his opposition Labour party trounced the incumbent Conservatives in the general election, the newly elected prime minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, promised today to usher in a moment of "national renewal" in the country.

"Shining once again on a country with the opportunity after 14 years to get its future back," the triumphant Keir Starmer said in central London after his party secured a majority in the parliament.
