Foreign envoys given 'Mango Tour' in Chapainawabganj

The Agriculture Ministry has organized a ‘Mango Tour’ for some 20 high commissioners, ambassadors and heads of mission in Chapainawabganj on Thursday.

The envoys from countries, including Indonesia, Australia, Spain, Malaysia and Singapore were taken to Kandbona village of Nachole Upazila to provide them with a proper idea of Bangladeshi mangoes.

Agriculture Minister Dr Abdus Shaheed apprised the foreign diplomats of different aspects of the mango business, which is now expanding to the wider world.

“The government is working to increase mango export. Ambassadors from different countries have been brought to visit the mango orchards to brand our country's mangoes. Their recommendation will help us to grab the foreign market which will contribute to our country,” he said.

Apart from the envoys, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu, State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperative Md Abdul Wadud, Agriculture Secretary Wahida Akter, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiar took part in the tour.
