Air force pilot dies in training aircraft crash in Chittagong

A pilot of Bangladesh Air Force died on Thursday, as a training aircraft crashed in Karnaphuli River.

The airman has been identified as Asim Jawad, a squadron leader.

According to Shakila Sultana, deputy commissioner (Port) of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police, after the training aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force, a YAK-130, crashed in Karnaphuli River near Patenga in the morning, pilot and co-pilot ejected with parachutes. Two injured pilots were rescued and taken to BNS Issa Khan Hospital. Jawad succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after 12pm. The other pilot is under treatment.
