Indian BSF shoots dead Bangladeshi in Brahmanbaria’s Kasba border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladesh national along the Kasba border in Brahmanbaria on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Hasan, a 26-year-old man from the locality.  

According to Arif, a cousin of the deceased, Hasan was involved in smuggling of sugar from India. He was shot by BSF members while bringing sugar from the border area. The physician pronounced Hasan dead after he was taken to Kasba Upzila Health Complex.

Lt Col Ashiq Hasan Ullah, commander of 60th battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said, “A boy was killed in BSF firing. We are investigating the matter. Details will be made available later.”

Raju Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kasba Police Station, said it was learnt that the person killed by BSF bullet was involved in smuggling.

Hasan was hit by a bullet and his body will be sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital for autopsy, he said.
