PM will fly to Thailand on April 24

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will undertake a visit to Thailand from April 24 to April 29, Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday.

 

During the visit at the invitation of Thai Srettha Thavisin, Hasina will lead a high level delegation which includes a number of ministers, adviser, secretaries and senior officials of the government, said a Foreign Ministry press release.

 

“The scheduled bilateral visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Thailand will be the first-ever visit at the level of head of government from Bangladesh to Thailand since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The visit is significant for both Bangladesh and Thailand as it will open new windows of cooperation between the two friendly countries,” it said.

 

On 26 April, the prime minister will be formally received by her Thai counterpart while a ceremonial guard of honor will be accorded to her. On the same day, she will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin at the Government House. 

 

While in Thailand, Hasina will meet the King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshan at the palace of their residence.

 

The Bangladesh head of the government is also scheduled to attend a state lunch to be hosted by Thai prime minister in her honor. A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit.

 

Hasina is scheduled to attend 80th session of the Commission for UNESCAP. She will deliver a speech at UNESCAP on 25 April. On the same day, the under-secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjabana will meet the prime minister.
