Over 200 BNP leaders and activists granted bail

Approximately 250 leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have been granted bail. The cases against them were filed during Sheikh Hasina's government.

On Tuesday, August 6, several separate courts in Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court approved their bail petitions.

Syed Zainul Abedin Mezbah, representing BNP activists, confirmed the development to Bonik Barta, stating that around 250 party members have been granted bail. He expressed hope that they would be released from prison later today.

Among those granted bail are senior BNP figures including Standing Committee members Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and Nazrul Islam Khan, Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Organizing Secretary Kazi Syedul Alam Bablu, Dhaka North BNP Convener Saiful Alam Nirab, South BNP Convener Rafiqul Islam Majnu, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Dr. Rafiq, Chairperson's Advisor Shamsur Rahman Shimul, and Joint Secretary Shahid Uddin Aniey. They have been held at the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
