Khaleda Zia, the chairperson of the BNP, has been released from custody. She
was freed at 3 pm on Tuesday (August 6). A press release from the Bangabhaban
stated that Khaleda Zia’s release followed a meeting involving President Md. Shahabuddin,
the chiefs of the three armed forces, leaders from various political parties,
representatives from civil society, and leaders of the anti-discrimination
student movement.
